I think that I am pursuing Friendster friend acquisitions more than I pursue actual flesh & blood friends. It's probably wrong. Here is an article about Friendster from the Village Voice.

Speaking of consuming brands like Nike, there's an interesting review here of a book called Branded: The Buying & Selling of Teenagers by Alissa Quart. Having not yet read it, I'd say it'll make a nice counterpart to No Logo.

Oh wow. I've not written here for awhile. Probably long enough to lose both of my readers. Well, in the last week or two I've fake-graduated with a degree in photography from an un-prestigious college of art, convinced a handful of friends to come to my family graduation party, started working more than 40 hrs a week again, gotten roped into Friendster, saw & completely enjoyed the Vin Diesel-free 2 Fast 2 Furious, finally bought some new shoes after like 2 years (more later), went grocery shopping, took some new pictures that aren't up on the website that I haven't updated, & rode my bike, like 3 times.

So about the shoes. Maybe it's not a big deal. I've been going to the Niketown on Michigan Avenue every so often because I want to get some of their skate shoes. The funny thing is that they know nothing about them. When I asked the salesperson where they were he told me that he "didn't think they were out yet." So then last week I went in there & they had these Air Dunk Lows in black/charcoal. (It's called a colorway for the uninitiated which included me until I looked at this) I wanted them immediately. The rub was that they were already out of my size, the ever-popular 9.5. Still no shoes for me. Today, after cashing my check at the currency exchange, I went back, thinking that maybe they'd gotten more in. Instead, they were completely out & the guy looked at me like I was crazy. Then I went to the Urban Outfitters near Mary's job & there they were. The exact shoe that I wanted. The only difference was that they were $20 more expensive. Whatever. My other shoes make me walk crooked because my feet pronate or supinate, I can never remember. Anyway, good story, huh?
