I just realized this morning that my last 2 undergraduate critiques are on the 21st. It's weird, in a way. I'm not really nervous because I've been working reasonably hard but still, it's my last ones...hmm. Anyways, some of that work will be up on the webjammer soon enough. Putting together a large, coherent site is on my list of things to do. It was actually on last summer's to-do list, too. It's going to be pretty simple & have an overwhelming amount of crap to look at. I'm looking forward to those 2 days that I have off before summer school starts. Speaking of websites, I believe that my friend Jon's thegit.net is up & running. You readers should check it out.
Mary & I went to see X2 this week. It was at least as good as the first one. One of my favorite funny things was how they tried to put Mystique's body in as many shots as possible. Almost as good as X2 was the full, super long trailer for Matrix: Reloaded. I have to admit that I'm more excited about seeing these movies than any in recent memory, besides the Cremaster cycle. If you haven't watched the free episodes of the Animatrix already, you should, nerdy mcnerds. We also saw Lilya-4-Ever, which was a pretty intense downer but really good in that Mike Leigh way. Not all movies need happy endings or the kind we like.
And this guy that I used to work with at the little Reckless on North Ave., Joshua Wildman, has photographs from the West Virginia Arm Wrestling Championships in the new issue of Tokion, although they're not on the website. He is in every sense of the word, a Wildman. When asked the question, "What have you been doing all day?" not many people could pull off the answer "Playing trumpet in the park" without hesitation or irony. He's also a great photographer.
In about a week I will have worked at Reckless Records for 6 whole years except for the month or so that I thought I'd make a career of bike messengering. Don't bake me a cake or anything. If you happen to see me, you'll understand why I look the way I do. Boohoo for me.
